Jarrett Connection: Proof That Obama’s Hawaii and Chicago Communist Networks Were Linked?

Turn on the lights, and--like a run down dope house full of cockroaches--the commie-infested history and philosophical dominance in the life of Barrie Hussein Obama becomes more and more convincingly clear to all open-minded, intellectually honest people, as they scurry to continue hiding their true thoughts and motivations from the sheeple aided and abetted in their treason against the USA by the state-controlled drive by media:

The Jarrett Connection: Proof That Obama’s Hawaii and Chicago Communist Networks Were Linked?

Accolades to Trevor Loudon at New Zeal. He has done extensive research and has obtained unrefutable evidence. A must read for ALL AMERICANS! It is a long piece but the documentation is included.

It is now well established that Barack Obama was linked to the Hawaiian Communist Party network through his boyhood/teenage mentor Frank Marshall Davis.

It is also well known that after moving to Chicago, Obama linked up with the local communist networks.

Manning Marable, a leader of the Communist Party offshoot Committees of Correspondence for Democracy&Socialism claims that Obama understands what socialism is. A lot of the people working with him are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists. There are a lot of people like that in Chicago who have worked with him for years…”

This leads to two key questions....[cont'd at link above]

Dems Internecine Fights slows down Abortions 'R Us

House healthcare talks break down in anger ...

Blue Dogs: 'We are... trying to save this party'...

RAHM IT: HOUSE WILL VOTE ON
HEALTH CARE NEXT WEEK...

Truth be told, the Dems are doing so much internecine fights during the last few weeks, it's almost fun to watch anymore. If the GOP was smart, and it has shown not to be, they would:

a) step aside and let the Dems finish each other off;
b) align themselves as much as practical with the Blue Dog Dems who are fighting the massive movement of Barrie Hussein to nationalize and socialize 1/6th of the US economy, bringing the best health care system in the world down to the level of say, er, a banana republic size like the peoples' paradise down under in Kuba.

Face-freeze Nancy Pelosi may be off her psych meds and having delusions of "I have the votes" to pass this heavy tax increase bloated "reform" of health care, but sane people know what is really the jiggy with it: if brought to a floor vote, as Henry "da Rat" Nostrilitis threatened on Friday Jul 24, the bill would've been voted down. And da Rat knew it, hence he didn't act on his paltry threat.

Sadly the pro-life Pence Amendment was voted
down also on Friday. It would've de-funded the largest domestic terrorist group of baby killers, Planned Barrenhood. They bragged of killing 290,000 kids in 2008 and raking in over $310 mill of our hard earned tax dollars. That doesn't include the 1.5 mill kids they assisted in killing via the abortifacient Plan B Emergency Abortion pill.

So, if you want to get peeved at our incompetant graft-driven politicians, how's that for something to grab ya? Your tax money, even if you are a die-hard pro-lifer, helped PP kill at least 1.79 Million preborn babies last year.

Yeah, there's a ton of work yet to be done to shut down the most abortoholic administration in US history. Stop The Abortion Mandate is certainly one good step towards that. They even had 36,000 people show up during a weeknight live webscast last Thurs Jul 23 on 4 or 5 days' notice. Pretty exciting and electrifying.

You can bet on it. As sure as the Squeelers are going down this fall...

GA Embryo Bill does very little to protect any embryos

The current bill in the GA legislature is being assailed by pro-death groups like the American Fertility Associations, whose millions and millions of largesse depend on government and large foundational spending, such as that signed into effect by abortoholic prez Barrie Hussein Obama last Monday.

Truth be told, the GA bill, SB169: The Ethical Treatment of Human Embryos Act,is a well meaning and well intentioned bill from a state that has been one of the few to pass specific pharmacist conscience clause laws and regulations.

However, a reading of the bill, and the attendant release from Georgia RTL, clearly shows that really little substance is in the bill to protect embryos and embryo cell lines already existing.

A very reliable research and philosphy expert, who has done tremendous work dissecting the true meaning of language in embryo, IVF, genetics and other such bills, explained to me yesterday:

  • "Fertilization", "natural death", "cloning = SCNT (misdefined)" (GRTL web site) -- Sounds like the same old "Weldon/Brownback" crowd [this alludes to the more smoke and mirrors bills pushed by Sens. Weldon and Brownback which usually intentionally mis-defined human beings and personhood]. Guess they have a lot at stake by this time, and won't budge. I've also noticed something in several of these "incremental" bills. They throw in their usual mis-definitions, but they also designate just "IVF" clinics, and leave out all the other "ART" [artificial reprotuctive technology] clinics. And by using the exclusionary term "clinic", they also totally ignore IVF and ART research laboratories so that [the latter] are not affected by the legislation. End result, nothing.
Terms such a "fertilization" leave out all embryos [babies] created by various asexual manipulations besides SCNT. "Pregnancy" and terms like it redefined by the abortion-eugenics industry leave out all embryos created in whatever form BEFORE implantation, for that is how they unscientifically define pregnancy.
And so the list goes on of poor definitions and terminology that is defined by the enemies of life.

That summarizes --however briefly--major pitfalls in the bill that amount to very few protections in reality, although they make for good press releases as being "pro life".

And what's with all the broohaha over the chimp cartoon in the NY Post this week? Frankly, I think the chimp is insulted to be compared to that marxist prez. The real racists are the JustUs brothers, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.....

Guess what is # 1 before you get there

11 Most Expensive Catastrophes in History

# 11. Titanic - $150 Million

The sinking of the Titanic is possibly the most famous accident in the world. But it barely makes our list of top 11 most expensive. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage and was considered to be the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. Over 1,500 people lost their lives when the ship ran into an iceberg and sunk in frigid waters. The ship cost $7 million to build ($150 million in today ' s dollars).

# 10. Tanker Truck vs Bridge - $358 Million

On August 26, 2004, a car collided with a tanker truck containing 32,000 liters of fuel on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany . The tanker crashed through the guardrail and fell 90 feet off the A4 Autobahn resulting in a huge explosion and fire which destroyed the load-bearing ability of the bridge. Temporary repairs cost $40 million and the cost to replace the bridge is estimated at $318 Million.

# 9. MetroLink Crash - $500 Million

On September 12, 2008, in what was one of the worst train crashes in California history, 25 people were killed when a Metrolink commuter train crashed head-on into a Union Pacific freight train in Los Angeles . It is thought that the Metrolink train may have run through a red signal while the conductor was busy text messaging.. Wrongful death lawsuits are expected to cause $500 million in losses for Metrolink.

# 8. B-2 Bomber Crash - $1.4 Billion

Here we have our first billion dollar accident (and we ' re only #7 on the list). This B-2 stealth bomber crashed shortly after taking off from an air base in Guam on February 23, 2008. Investigators blamed distorted data in the flight control computers caused by moisture in the system. This resulted in the aircraft making a sudden nose-up move which made the B-2 stall and crash. This was 1 of only 21 ever built and was the most expensive aviation accident in history. Both pilots were able to eject to safety.

# 7. Exxon Valdez - $2.5 Billion

The Exxon Valdez oil spill was not a large one in relation to the world ' s biggest oil spills, but it was a costly one due to the remote location of Prince William Sound (accessible only by helicopter and boat). On March 24, 1989, 10.8 million gallons of oil was spilled when the ship ' s master, Joseph Hazelwood, left the controls and the ship crashed into a Reef. The cleanup cost Exxon $2.5 billion.

# 6. Piper Alpha Oil Rig - $3.4 Billion

The world ' s worst off-shore oil disaster. At one time, it was the world ' s single largest oil producer, spewing out 317,000 barrels of oil per day. On July 6, 1988, as part of routine maintenance, technicians removed and checked safety valves which were essential in preventing dangerous build-up of liquid gas. There were 100 identical safety valves which were checked. Unfortunately, the technicians made a mistake and forgot to replace one of them. At 10 PM that same night, a technician pressed a start button for the liquid gas pumps and the world ' s most expensive oil rig accident was set in motion.

Within 2 hours, the 300 foot platform was engulfed in flames. It eventually collapsed, killing 167 workers and resulting in $3.4 Billion in damages.

# 5. Challenger Explosion - $5.5 Billion

The Space Shuttle Challenger was destroyed 73 seconds after takeoff due on January 28, 1986 due to a faulty O-ring. It failed to seal one of the joints, allowing pressurized gas to reach the outside. This in turn caused the external tank to dump its payload of liquid hydrogen causing a massive explosion. The cost of replacing the Space Shuttle was $2 billion in 1986 ($4.5 billion in today ' s dollars). The cost of investigation, problem correction, and replacement of lost equipment cost $450 million from 1986-1987 ($1 Billion in today ' s dollars).

# 4. Prestige Oil Spill - $12 Billion

On November 13, 2002, the Prestige oil tanker was carrying 77,000 tons of heavy fuel oil when one of its twelve tanks burst during a storm off Galicia , Spain . Fearing that the ship would sink, the captain called for help from Spanish rescue workers, expecting them to take the ship into harbour. However, pressure from local authorities forced the captain to steer the ship away from the coast. The captain tried to get help from the French and Portuguese authorities, but they too ordered the ship away from their shores. The storm eventually took its toll on the ship resulting in the tanker splitting in half and releasing 20 million gallons oil into the sea.

According to a report by the Pontevedra Economist Board, the total cleanup cost $12 billion.

# 3. Space Shuttle Columbia - $13 Billion

The Space Shuttle Columbia was the first space worthy shuttle in NASA ' s orbital fleet. It was destroyed during re-entry over Texas on February 1, 2003 after a hole was punctured in one of the wings during launch 16 days earlier. The original cost of the shuttle was $2 Billion in 1978. That comes out to $6.3 Billion in today ' s dollars. $500 million was spent on the investigation, making it the costliest aircraft accident investigation in history. The search and recovery of debris cost $300 million.

In the end, the total cost of the accident (not including replacement of the shuttle) came out to $13 Billion according to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics..

# 2. Chernobyl - $200 Billion

On April 26, 1986, the world witnessed the costliest accident in history. The Chernobyl disaster has been called the biggest socio-economic catastrophe in peacetime history. 50% of the area of Ukraine is in some way contaminated. Over 200,000 people had to be evacuated and resettled while 1.7 million people were directly affected by the disaster. The death toll attributed to Chernobyl , including people who died from cancer years later, is estimated at 125,000. The total costs including cleanup, resettlement, and compensation to victims has been estimated to be roughly $200 Billion. The cost of a new steel shelter for the Chernobyl nuclear plant will cost $2 billion alone. The accident was officially attributed to power plant operators who violated plant procedures and were ignorant of the safety requirements needed.

# 1. 2008 Presidential Election- $800 Billion in the first two months………..

How low can the crazies commies on the left go? Mmmmm...pretty low

Especially when there is a hot conservative, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling babe with five kids running for VP....and her name is NOT Hillary!

See how low lefty Alan Colmes, S/P failed facelift, can go:

Here’s That Screenshot Of The Original Post

August 31st, 2008, 4:46 PM EDT

thanks to Wizbangblog. I’m not running away from what I posted. I simply wanted to avoid the vile comments under that thread. The post wasn’t about Down Syndrome. It was about the issue of judgment. Those who read into this what I did not say have their own agendas. So, go ahead. Enjoy.

Then there's the Communist Party of America blog DailyKos--ha ha, a kos in Slovenian can be either a small piece of bread or a crow (no, not a Croatian!)-- with its usual fare of hate filled invective for the VP babe in waiting. They just hit new lows when one thinks they've gone as low as they can. Just another reason they always lose in the marketplace of ideas, and find themselves in the scrap heap of failed ideas.

From our friends at NewsBusters:

As I reported earlier, the scurrilous claim that McCain vice presidential pick Governor Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy with a Down's Syndrome child is beginning to spread among the lowest of the nutrooters. Now, the unhinged, smear site DemocraticUnderground.com has boosted this lie to their front pages. Naturally, since these hate sites feed into each other, the spurious source of the DU story is another DailyKos story like the one I earlier reported upon.

Of course, this whole meme is nothing but a lie. Are we expected to believe an entire state, its hospitals, doctors and media establishment helped cover up this pregnancy story? And they all did this for a Republican, to boot? It makes little logical sense to believe a word of this black helicopter conspiracy theory. Next thing we know, the Kossacks and DUers are going to expect us to believe that Big Foot and some gray aliens were the attendants at the birth!

Still not sure if we're exaggerating, meet Miss Vasilla 1984 and the runner up for Miss Alaska, the next VP of the USA, and the first woman in that office, conservative and constitution-loving eye candy, Sarah "the Barracuda" Palin, who is not to be messed with:

Barrie Hussein Obamandacity Exposed

ATLAS EXCLUSIVE: FINAL REPORT ON OBAMA BIRTH CERTIFICATE FORGERY CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN

Techdude delivers a final report that exceeds my wildest expectations. It is irrefutable, empirical evidence - Obama's birth certificate is a forgery. Why? Why a COLB (certificate of live birth) forgery? That is the question.

My deepest thanks and appreciation for Techdude's unwavering commitment to the truth despite the threats and harassment, the slashed tires and the dead animal on his porch.

Insofar as "techdude's" credentials, he is an active member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American College of Forensic Examiners, The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners, International Information Systems Forensics Association - the list goes on. He also a board certified as a forensic computer examiner, a certificated legal investigator, and a licensed private investigator. He has been performing computer based forensic investigations since 1993 (although back then it did not even have a formal name yet) and he has performed countless investigations since then.

Here is his analysis:

Obama’s Birth Certificate – CHANGE you can believe in.

I have decided to leave out the low level technicalities and the how-to section of this report due to a lack of time and more importantly I want to get the facts out as quickly as possible. As some of you may or may not know some asshat decided to track me down and vandalize my car and hang a dead mutilated rabbit from my front door in a lame attempt to intimidate me from proceeding with releasing any details of my analysis. They did succeed in delaying the report by a few days but instead of deterring me they just really pissed me off. To their credit, if I had not taken a few days off from the analysis I would have missed the most damning piece of evidence – the remnants of the previous security border. So to the demented retard who slaughtered an animal to make a point – f*ck you and thank you. And because of the amazing number of violent psychopaths who seem to be drawn to this issue, I am not going to use or supply any details that can be used to identify the owners of the COLBS used in the analysis except for those which have already been publicly disclosed. If the owners want to come forward on their own that is entirely their decision. Now let’s get to the summarized report.

In questioned document analysis there are several methods for detecting forgeries – the most basic of which is to conduct a side by side evaluation of known good samples to compare against the questioned one and to use an alternate light source to highlight the changes in the color and density of the inks and paper. In the case at hand there are no questioned physical documents to examine so I used the same basic techniques modified for the digital age for use in computer forensic analysis.

The following analysis was conducted using various Hawaiian COLBS issued over a multi-year time frame ranging from 2001 through 2008 but this report will focus only on the results from the March 2007 through June 2008 certificates for accurately comparing against the KOS image purportedly printed by the Health Department of Hawaii in June 2007. I am only interested in comparing apples to apples as they say but I will touch on some of the other years for a brief comparative and observational analysis.

Since the image presented is a graphical image and not a physical certificate I made the concerted effort to track down known good certificates and certificates images to use for the analysis. Thanks to several individuals I managed to collect and review multiple images of certificates issued between 2001 through 2003 all of which bore an identical layout to the previous Decosta image which was issued during the same time frame. Several more certificate images and physical certificates were also sent to me of certificates issued between 2006 through 2008 directly by their respective owners. All of the 2006 through 2008 certificates bore an identical layout to one another. Several copies of the images were created to allow digital modifications to be made without altering the original images. MD5 and SHA1 signatures were generated for each of the images and their duplicates. The signatures of the duplicates matched against their originals and the original images were then moved to a separate protected directory on the server.

By separating the certificate issue dates into groups the pre-2006 certificates show a clearly different security border design than the more recent 2006 through 2008 design. There were no other visually detectible modifications to the layout of the certificates between all time frames aside from the additional change from the DATE ACCPETED to DATE FILED headings.

Image 1. 2001 – 2008 border patterns

Image1

All known good certificate images from all time frames examined shared an apparent identical layout and font. Each of the available un-cropped full certificate images, from all time frames, showed the security borders to be almost perfectly centered from left to right within the lower 2/3 rd portion of the 8 ½ x 11 inch page with all deviations off center being within 15 pixels. Measurements were taken from the top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, center top, and center bottom of each images security border to the edges of the visible paper which appeared as hard edges with the top cover of the scanners creating whitespace.

Image 2. Measurements

Image2

The embossed seals and ink stamps in all of the pre-2006 images are clearly visible in the scans however none of the post-2006 seals or ink stamps are visible without extensive manipulation to the digital images. Even when scanning the physical post-2006 certificate in my possession using multiple resolutions and using multiple scanners I was also unable to produce an image which would allow the seal to show though the image. The ink stamps on the rear side were also not visible in the front side scans without digital modifications to the scanned images. My scans of the physical certificate also produced the same results using multiple resolutions and using multiple scanners.

The post-2006 COLBs were then compared against one another for a direct 1:1 comparison. Using copies of the images I digitally enhanced and modified the scans by removing only the hatch pattern background and then removing the merged information fields leaving just the raw document templates and saving them as a series of digital overlay templates. When the 2006 overlay was placed on top of the 2007 image they matched from corner to corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images. The fonts were observed to be in the same locations and of the same size and kerning. The procedure was then used with the 2006 overlay on top of the 2008 image. Once again, they matched from corner to corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images. The fonts were observed to be in the same locations and of the same size, style, and kerning. The 2007 overlay was then applied on top of the 2008 image. The 2007 and 2008 also matched from corner to corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images. The fonts were observed to be in the same locations and of the same size, style, and kerning. Having verified that all of the examined post-2006 certificates were identical in form and substance I then focused the rest of the analysis using the 2007 and 2008 COLB KOS image to pin the document into the middle of the known time frame.

Image 3. Overlays

Image3

The same measurement methodology was used against the full un-cropped KOS image and showed the security borders to be uncentered from left to right within the lower 2/3 rd portion of the 8 ½ x 11 inch page with a deviation from the other measurements off center being the average of 75 pixels – a 60 pixel greater deviation. Measurements were taken from the top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, center top, and center bottom of each images security border to the edges of the visible paper which appeared as hard edges with the top cover of the scanners creating whitespace. The differences are also detectible visually without the use of digital enhancements.

Image 4. measurement comparisons

Image4

The previously created overlays were placed on top of the image. When the 2007 overlay was placed on top of the image they did not immediately line up. After being matched from security border corner to security border corner with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images the security border pattern obviously did not match in pattern or in color. The fonts were observed to not be in the same locations and they also did not share same kerning. The procedure was then used with the 2008 overlay on top of the KOS image. Once again when the 2008 overlay was placed on top of the image they did not immediately line up. After being matched from corner to corner like the 2007 overlay again with some minor variations on the minute angle of the images the security border pattern obviously did not match in pattern or in color. The fonts were observed to not be in the same locations on the page and they also did not share same kerning.

Image 5. with 2007 and 2008 overlays

Image5

A direct relative comparison using unmodified copies of the original images were made in regards to the security border pattern and color. Several distinctions were noted from the 2007 / 2008 certificate security border versus the security border used in the KOS image.

Image 6. Border comparisons

Image6

Direct relative measurements using unmodified copies of the original images were made in regards to the font size and kerning. Several letters were distinctly different in width and kerning from the 2007 / 2008 certificate font versus the font used in the KOS image such as O, H, N, R, and C.

Images 7 – 9. Animated GIFs showing kerning differences

Image7 Image8 Image9

The metadata and EXIF information was then extracted from the 2007, 2008, and the two images. The metadata extracted from the JPG files consisted of the quantization tables used for compressing the image and the EXIF data if it was present.

The 2007 image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 75% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2550 x 3300 pixels in a portrait orientation and contained no EXIF data.

The 2008 image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 80% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2550 x 3300 pixels in a portrait orientation and also contained no EXIF data.

The un-cropped image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 90% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2550 x 3300 pixels in a portrait orientation and also contained the following relevant EXIF data:

[Software ] = Adobe Photoshop CS3 Macintosh

[DateTime ] = 2008:

06:12

08:42:36

[ColorSpace ] = 65535

[ExifImageWidth ] = 2550

[ExifImageHeight] = 3300

Raw Image Orientation = Portrait

Photoshop Save As Quality = [8]

Photoshop Save Format = [Progressive]

The cropped image’s rate of compression was calculated to an approximated 50% quality factor at 300 dpi with an image size of 2427 x 2369 pixels in a landscape orientation and also contained the following relevant EXIF data:

[Software ] = Adobe Photoshop CS3 Macintosh

[DateTime ] = 2008:

06:12

08:42:36

[ColorSpace ] = 65535

[ExifImageWidth ] = 2427

[ExifImageHeight] = 2369

Raw Image Orientation = Landscape

The 2007, 2008, and the two KOS images were then analyzed by creating a heat map showing where each pixel changes as jpeg quality decreases from 100 to 0. A change was considered relevant once the sum of the changes to the red, green, and blue values exceeded 10%. The heat map created from the 2007 and 2008 images showed the fonts, seal image, and security border are all identical consistent values. To eliminate any subjective presumptions and to increase the number of comparative tests the same analysis was then conducted on the 2006 and prior certificate images which all found the fonts, seal images, and security borders to also be saved with identical consistent values. The same analysis on the KOS images showed the security border having a substantially different RGB quality value than the fonts and the seal image.

Image 10. RGB value heat maps

Image10

Image 11. Detailed images of RGB value heat maps

Image11

The 2007, 2008, and the two KOS images were also analyzed for jpeg compression variations by creating a heat map showing where the difference for a particular compression level is indicated. A change was considered relevant once the sum of the changes to the error level values exceeded 10% of the previously calculated compression error rates. The heat map created from the 2007 and 2008 images showed the fonts, seal image, and security border are all identical consistent values. To eliminate any subjective presumptions and to increase the number of comparative tests the same analysis was then conducted on the 2006 and prior certificate images which all found the fonts, seal images, and security borders to also be compressed with identical consistent values. The same analysis on the KOS image indicated that the security border has a different error value than the fonts and the seal image.

Image 12. Error level analysis heat maps

Image12

Image 13. Detailed images of error level analysis heat map

Image13

The image contains numerous visible artifacts located at various points throughout the image. These artifacts are not found on any other known good image from any examined time frame. I began creating a pixel level map of these errors by using a copy of the full un-cropped version and simply highlighting the areas by drawing a pixel wide line to the left and to the right of each visible flaw. The left side of the image towards the inside edge of the security border contained stray vertical lines that did not match up to any of the jpeg compression artifacts so they were highlighted. The right side of the image contained visual pixel level inconsistencies in the background hatch pattern. The right side pattern is visually consistent with the artifacts left after digitally erasing an area from an image and attempting to rebuild the background.

Image 14. Some random flaws highlighted

Image14

By connecting the points together the original placement of what appears to be part of the original security border becomes apparent. The placement of the lines matches the expected location of a good security border based on the known placement from the known good certificates. The width and spacing of the highlighted areas also match a 1:1 scale overlay from a section of a known good security border.

Image 15. Connected lines

Image15

A close examination of the security border itself reveals several repeating inconsistencies. Among them is a “weak line” which repeats once after every second bold line and a slightly downward curving end point where a straight line should end. This pattern continues around the entire perimeter of the security border. Upon very close inspection portions of the security border also repeat every 240 pixels. By mapping this repeating pattern it becomes apparent that the pattern is laid out as a 240 x 240 pixel square that can be accurately extrapolated to the next position by simply counting 240 pixels. This type of tiling effect is commonly seen when an image has been modified by filling an area using an image editing application’s tile or pattern fill function.

Image 16. Mapped border pattern

Image16

During the course of my analysis several calls were made to various departments in the Hawaiian State Government in an attempt to better understand the process and procedures used to create, print, and distribute copies of the COLB form. While I was brushed off or hung up upon by almost all of the people I contacted I did manage to talk with a computer technician who was familiar with the computers and printers used by the Department of Health and the clerk’s offices. He was unwilling to give any specific details but did provide enough information to work with. The COLB certificates are printed directly in the clerk’s office at the time they are requested. The system uses a standard laser printer and the border is printed at the same time as the text and other images on top of preprinted security paper. He stated the border is a vector image and would appear crisp and defined. When asked if a COLB can be printed off center he said it was not possible and any misfeed would simply jam in the printer. When asked if he had seen the images on-line he replied that he had – and that there is “no way” they had printed something that looked like that which further backed up my conclusions. Now let’s start to put the pieces of the puzzle together. The KOS image security border pattern does not match any known specimen from any known year. It does not match the pre-2006 nor does it match the post-2006 certificate patterns. The placement of the text in all of the pre-2006 and post-2006 certificates are almost identical pixel location matches while the image’s text placement does not match any known specimen from any known year. The shape and kerning of the fonts used in the 2006 through 2008 certificates are identical while the shape and kerning of the fonts used in the image does not match any known specimen. The KOS image shows clear signs of tampering such as the mismatch in RGB and error levels, visible indications of the previous location of the erased security border, easily detectable patterns of repeating flaws around the new security border, EXIF data that says the image was last saved with Photoshop CS3 for Macintosh, and finally a technician from Hawaii who confirms it just looks wrong.

There are two obvious scenarios used to create the image that can be ascertained from evidence. Either a real COLB was scanned into Photoshop and digitally edited or a real COLB was first scanned to obtain the graphic layout then blanked by soaking the document in solvent to remove the toner. After rescanning the blank page to a separate image the graphics from the previously obtained scan could then be easily applied to the blank scan after some editing and rebuilding. It would also explain why date stamp bleeds through the paper and the various bits of toner located around the image as well as the remnants of the previous location of a security border.

So as I have been saying repeatedly since I first compared the KOS images to the Decosta image using the same tests and measurements – the image is a horrible forgery.

I assume no one has been able to figure out why the "2007" KOS image manages to have the same placement as a 2003 COLB and not a 2006, 2007, or 2008 COLB yet huh? How about the remnants of the previous border location? Humm...and what about that mis-matching uncentered border with obvious 2 pixel white spaces between the top and bottom headers? Any more novel theories? Space aliens? Right wing conspiracies? Oh I know...it must have all been a "satire" of a real one.

Where are all the whiners and nut cases on the Left for the Iowa floods?

Food for thought…

Where are all of the Hollywood Lefty celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?

Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?

Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago ?

When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?

Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?

Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?

When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a 'vanilla' Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?

Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage, complete with reports of cannibalism?

Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?

How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

Barrie Hussein violates truth-in-advertising with "faith-based" speech

Gotta love that crazy-like-a-fox lefty way out wack job communist, Barrie Hussein, ears and all.
Now, he's trying to schmooze the conservative, Christian-based center and right with his "values" ad, the best Bubba wannabe release since, well, der Schlickmeister hisself!

Check out the righteous rant by Bill Donohue, who does the lion's share of the job defending the Catholic Faith in the REAL WORLD, vis-a-vis the namby pamby weak kneed "bishops" of the conciliar AmChurch:

July 2, 2008

OBAMA’S FAITH-BASED GAMBIT IS A FRAUD

Catholic League president Bill Donohue urged Catholics to reject Sen. Barack Obama’s faith-based initiative:

“If a customer walked into a New York deli and said, ‘Let me have a hot dog on a roll—hold the frankfurter’—he’d likely be thrown out. That’s what the public should do to Obama’s faith-based initiative: since he wants to gut the faith from his faith-based programs, he should be told to junk it.

“Any church or religious agency that agrees to take federal money on the condition that it must operate in a secular fashion—in hiring and in disseminating its values—is selling out. If Orthodox Jews running a day care center are not allowed to exclusively hire Orthodox Jews, there is nothing kosher about it. If a Catholic foster care program cannot place Catholic children with Catholic parents, it is doing a disservice to the children. If an evangelical drug rehab program can’t deliver a Christian message to its clients, it may as well close up shop. But that’s what Obama wants—he wants to secularize the religious workplace.

“No wonder Obama said yesterday that ‘I’m not saying that faith-based groups are an alternative to government or secular nonprofits, and I’m not saying that they’re somehow better at lifting people up.’

Indeed, if he really believes this then he might as well withdraw his initiative.

“The whole purpose behind funding faith-based programs is that they are, in fact, superior to secular programs. And the reason they are, has everything to do with the inculcation of religious values disseminated by people of faith. No matter, Obama wants to gut the religious values and bar religious agencies from hiring people who share their religion. Hence, his initiative is a fraud.”

And, hold on a sec: I thought George Bush, besides personally using his weather machine on New Orleans, had nothing but "failed policies", you know, the responsorial in the socialist-democrat party's litany of the secular saints?

This chick is definitely so twisted she would pull such an extreme ploy to mess with Yale and the public in general. I've heard of attention whores, but this one is near the top (er, bottom) of the pile.

Hard to tell, but I think she's the one with the fakey half-silly grin, in "gotcha" mode.

Pray for this confused and demented feminazi and for her foolish parents who shell out $30+K yearly to call this "ejukashun". Hospodi pomiluj!

Transfiguration of Our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ

August 5, 2007 AD

Pre-Festive Day of the Transfiguration

Transfiguration

Matthew 17:14-20 - And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and kneeling before him said, "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him." And Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me." And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, `Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. But this kind never comes out except by prayer and fasting." (RSV)

Origen - When someone has total faith, such that he no longer disbelieves in anything found in holy Scripture and has faith like that of Abraham, who so believed in God to such a degree that his faith was reckoned to him as righteousness, then he has all faith like a grain of a mustard seed. Then such a man will say to this mountain – I mean in this case the deaf and dumb spirit in him who is said to be epileptic – “Move from here to another place.” It will move.

Dormition Fast began on August 1st and continues until the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God on August 15th.

August Feasts:

  • August 6 - Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ
  • August 15 - Feast of the Dormition (Falling-Asleep) of the Mother of God

The Icon is of the Transfiguration of our Lord.

Kos Kommies imitate themselves, shut down opposition voice of military man

'Ya know how it goes: once a commie always a stinking commie, and wanna be leftie kook blog leader, Markos M Zuniga, showed again that even when NOT in power, the crazies on the left will shut down all voices that are contrary to their PC world [recall, the term PC, politically correct, was a mainstream euphemism in communist China during Mao's 'cultural revolution', gang of 4 sans Peking duck].

A moderator at a conference of "progressive" bloggers attended by leading Democratic presidential candidates engaged in an unusual confrontation with a man in military uniform, refusing to let him speak and demanding he identify himself.

'Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!'

The panel, "The Military and Progressives," took place today at the YearlyKos in Chicago, an annual event run by influential blogger Markos Moulitsas of the DailyKos.

The confrontation was captured on video posted by blogger Ian Schwartz, beginning at about the 40-minute mark.

Ezra Klein of the American Prospect, who witnessed the incident called it an "odd close" to the panel, reporting that at the end "a young man in uniform stood up to argue that the surge was working, and cutting down on Iraqi casualties."

"The moderator largely freaked out," Klein wrote. "When other members of the panel tried to answer his question, he demanded they 'stand down.'"

The moderator, Klein said, "demanded the questioner give his name, the name of his commander and the name of his unit. And then he closed the panel, no answer offered or allowed, and stalked off the stage."

Panelist Wesley Clark, the former NATO commander and 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, "took the mic and tried to explain what had just occurred," Klein said.

Klein said "the argument appears to be that you're not allowed to participate in politics while wearing a uniform, or at least that you shouldn't, and that the questioner was engaging in a sort of moral blackmail, not to mention a violation of the rules, by doing so."

He concluded: "Knowing fairly little about the army, I can't speak to any of that. But it was an uncomfortable few moments, and seemed fairly contrary to the spirit of the panel to roar down the member of the military who tried to speak with a contrary voice."

Democratic presidential candidates expected to attend the conference are former Sens. John Edwards and Mike Gravel; Sens. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Chris Dodd; and Rep. Dennis Kucinich. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also are expected.

Guv "Slobodan" Blagojevich ticks off even the Abortoholic Dems

Dude, this wacky left wing Serb just really has no idea how to wins friends and influence people! First, he becomes the Diktator of the Land of Lincoln in April 2005 by issuing his "I-hate-pharmacists-who-think-or-have-a-consience" diktat. Immediately he finds hisself and the state of IL, already taxing its citizens beyond redemption, defending FOUR lawsuits from various pharmacists who will not be tread upon by a despot with a moral umbilical tied to the bloodthirsty commie mass murderer back in stari kraj, Slobodan Milosevich.

Now, he wants to torque off all the reps in the Assembly by constantly calling it into session, as is his right in the IL constitution, most notably twice on Saturday July 7th. Seems his arch-nemesis for the month is a non-pharmacist, GOP house speaker Michael Madigan, who is running against crazy Slobo for governor this fall.
Should be a hoot!

Seems Guv Slobo wants $5 billion more spent in give-away candy including getting much wampum from gambling casinos he wants built. Madigan proposes a much lower spending spree of $1 Bill....oh, well, what's afew Billion more, right tovarish?

Guess the Guv says it all when he wears my fave T-shirt of hisself!
Maybe he should just stick to hating pharmacists who can think for themselves and who still have a Conscience. It would save him from having his crony on the board of pharmacy from Walgreen's sending his goons out in the night to fire pharmacists who won't swear allegiance to helping kill their preborn clientele.

Freedom of Choice for Pharmacist Rights of Conscience

The chicks at NARAL are at it again, using

pro-lifer blogs
for fund raising letters

Golly, gee whiz! How come those NAGs don't finish the thought and come out once and
for all and support FREEDOM of CHOICE for ALL PHARMACISTS to Rights of
Conscience? Are they now anti-choice?

Jill Stanek's blog
kind of said it all. Lord knows, the left hates success and using Wal Mart as their
punching bag is a lefty no brainer.

So what's the hub-a-bub, Bub? Wal Mart already stocks
the abortifacient Plan B at ALL its store now, recently caving in to the abortoholics
at NARAL and their fellow travelers.
Ah, those wascals at Wal Mart allowed a Springfield, OH pharmacist to exercize his rights of
conscience and not dispense Plan B recently. And that to a 23 year old female
'living in sin" with a 37 year old guy in need of a razor. The pharmacist explained--
politely even though you wouldn't know it from the drive-by media reports--
that he believed in the sanctity of life and could not knowingly dispense a
known abortifacient.

That some pharmacists can think for themselves, they are not automaton robots
just filling anything and everything, escapes the cranial power of these folks
who want freedom of 'choice' for everyone BUT the highly trained pharmacist,
who goes through a strict curriculum of a minimal 6 or 7 years of college,
has to now have an entry-level doctorate to practice, and who has the ongoing
burden of continuing education of 15-20 hrs per year of UNpaid time.

Coupled with the current severe shortage of overworked pharmacists in the US, the smart money knows
the chains cannot afford to chase more good pharmacists to another line of work.
They, the several state boards of pharmacy and the willing accomplices in the
'trade' associations--more interested in pharma funding than member services
and protection--had better start reading the writing on the wall: pharmacists with
high morals and ethics make MUCH better employees than those with no conscience,
or who are willing to skip good clinical care of their patients. That is good for patient
safety and care, and--ultimately--good for business.

Here's the NARAL pitch for money and taking away pharmacist 'choice'.

And here's another great opinion on the matter

In praise of Rick Santorum

OpinionJournal.com

The kind of pro-life leadership shown in the present Senate has been greatly enhanced with Rick Santorum (R-PA) on board, despite his equivocal support for pro-abortion freemason RINO Arlen Specter (R-PA) in his last re-election bid.

Santorum has been as strong as they get calling a spade a spade and defending the innocent, handicapped and infirm, chiefly the defenseless preborn destroyed by ALREADY approved abortifacients like Plan B (misnamed the 'morning after pill') and the starvation by drive-by media coverage of poor Teri Schaivo. His recent eloquent and plain truth that Plan B IS chemically and pharmaceutically a de facto abortifacient in a debate with abortoholic Bob Casey Jr, evinced courage and conviction.

If anyone needs to be re-elected it is Santorum. Pray for his victory as well as the longer shot of former Squeeler (ughhh!) receiver but great pro-life/pro-family man, Lynn Swan.

We Need His Kind - In praise of Rick Santorum

BY PEGGY NOONAN

Friday, November 3, 2006

It has been hard not to experience the election as a brute-force clash between two armies struggling over terrain their soldiers have come to see, inevitably-- they are at war, they are exhausted--as the location of the battle, but not its purpose. The nation is where the contest takes place; you can forget, in the fight, that its actual future is what's being fought for.

But here's an exception: the state of Pennsylvania, which has been this year a bright patch of meaning. Its U.S. Senate contest has been the great race of the cycle, the one about which conservatives in their hearts most care. And not only conservatives, but those who know, for whatever reason and in whatever way, that there is something truly at stake here, something beyond mere red team and blue.

That would be Sen. Rick Santorum. The sense among so many people--including politicians and journalists-- is that the Senate needs his sort, his kind.

The other day I called a former senator, a crusty old moderate Republican, and asked him if he liked Mr. Santorum. "No," he said, "I love him." When Mr. Santorum was new to the Senate, in 1995, he, the elder, seasoned legislator tried to mentor him. He wanted to help him survive. Mr. Santorum was grateful and appreciative, "but he kept speaking his mind!"

The former senator: "The political scientists all say to be honest and stand for principle, that's what people want. And he was exactly that, and he's about to get his head handed to him." He chuckled then with what seemed the reflexive pleasure of one pol about to see another take a tumble. Then he stopped. It was sad, he said.

I end with a story too corny to be true, but it's true. A month ago Mr. Santorum and his wife were in the car driving to Washington for the debate with his opponent on "Meet the Press."

Their conversation turned to how brutal the campaign was, how hurt they'd both felt at all the attacks. Karen Santorum said it must be the same for Bob Casey and his family; they must be suffering. Rick Santorum said yes, it's hard for them too. Then he said, "Let's say a Rosary for them." So they prayed for the Caseys as they hurtled south.

A friend of mine called them while they were praying. She told me about it later, but didn't want it repeated. "No one would believe it," she said. But I asked Mr. Santorum about it. Sure, he said, surprised at my surprise. "We pray for the Caseys every night. We know it's as hard for them as it is for us."

Personally I'll shed no tear for the careerists of either party who win or lose, nor for the BlackBerryed gargoyles in the second row of the SUV who tell them how to think and where to stand. That means this election night will be, for me, a dry- eyed affair.

But if Rick Santorum goes down to the defeat all expect, I will feel it. Like the crusty old moderate Republican, I know a national loss when I see one.

Fox News Airs Important Film on Islamic Fascism This Weekend!

Fox News Airs Important Film on Islamic Fascism This Weekend!

Fox News is airing “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against The West,” this weekend beginning Saturday 4 Nov and re-airing several times on Sunday, 5 Nov.

This film features experts on Islamic fascism, interviews with anti-Islamic terrorist Muslims, plus direct quotes from the Islamists themselves on what they plan for America and the Western World!

“Please watch and record this documentary this weekend,” said TVC Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon. “This is a wake-up call to all Americans about the dangers facing us from radical Islamists. This documentary also clearly shows why protecting our national security should be a high priority as Americans vote on November 7th.

Which party will better defend this nation from these fanatics? I think the answer is clear.”

“Obsession” airs at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening and on Sunday at 1:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m. and at 10:00 p.m. Set your recorder to capture this important documentary and share it with your friends before you vote on November 7th.

“Our civilization is being challenged by a ruthless, deceitful enemy who understands only brute force against him. He cannot be reasoned with or negotiated with. He must be defeated,” said Rev. Sheldon. “Frankly, I doubt that the Howard Dean or John Kerry wing of the Democratic leadership has the stomach for a battle to save our civilization.”

Bishop: All Priests Must Play Recorded Homily on Life and Family or Suffer "Serious Consequences"

This is a great item which is rare in AmChurch: a bishop exerting true Catholic leadership in a manly way.
No effeminate prose and flowery language, just the straight up, no nonsense direction needed to let the heterodox and heretical know who is in charge and why. Now all we need is a straight up admission that the deficiencies of the so-called "pastoral" Vatican II brought this on along with the illegal derogation of the True Mass of All Times, also called the Tridentine Mass or even more commonly the "Latin Mass" as defined by the Council of Trent and guaranteed in perpetuity by Pope St Pius V in 1570.

Let's hear Dr Joseph's comments and then on to the show!

Regarding the following:

I don't get it, I just don't get it. Bishop Morlino has the right idea, if the priests in his diocese are not espousing the right message from the pulpits, then ordering all the priests in his diocese to play a recorded message of his own at weekend Masses on November 4-5 in the place of the homily, is great.

But why is the killing of unborn children left out and the death penalty included in his recording. The amount of people killed in the USA yearly by the death penalty averages out to about 54 and they have had a trial.

When you compare this to about 1.3 million children who are killed yearly in their mother's womb without having a trial, it is mind boggling that the bishop would not include these children.

I heard the tape just to make sure and abortions were left out. The three major points were marriages just for a man and a woman, the Death Penalty and Embryonic Stem Cell Research.

He did mention that Embryonic Stem Cells have cured no one and their future is not promising (paraphrasing) but on the other hand Adult Stem Cells are already helping people. This was good, but why in the heck did he not mention the abomination of the killing of unborn children.

I like the idea of recorded material to be played from the pulpit, especially around election time because many priests cannot be trusted, but again, the most serious of all tragedies is the killing of unborn children and NOTHING was said by the bishop to save their lives.

I DON'T GET IT. I JUST DON'T.

I thought of writing to the bishop, but it may be too late. Although, here is the contact info, just maybe, it's not.

Bishop: All Priests Must Play Recorded Homily on Life and Family or Suffer "Serious Consequences"

By John-Henry Westen

MADISON, WI, November 2, 2006

(LifeSiteNews.com) - Bishop Robert C. Morlino is a man of courage. The 59-year-old who has been a bishop for seven years, serving the last three in the diocese of Madison, has taken steps to ensure that his teaching on voting in favor of life and family get transmitted to the faithful.

After hearing reports of "isolated cases" of priests refusing to convey, or even publicly contradicting, the bishops' messages on these important topics, he went to the extraordinary step of ordering all of the priests in his diocese to play a recorded message of his own at weekend Masses on November 4-5 in the place of the homily.

In an October 25 letter marked "personal and confidential", Bishop Morlino apologized for having to resort to such a method of operations.

He explained, "I apologize in advance for this second paragraph that I must write, and I would very much prefer otherwise. My office has received reports that in isolated cases, priests have refused to cooperate with my requests in terms of preaching in defense of marriage and have even expressed disagreement with my clear wishes in this matter."

To demonstrate the gravity of the matter, Bishop Morlino warned of "serious consequences" for priests who would contradict the vital teachings of the church in these matters. "I must make it very clear that any verbal or non-verbal expression of disagreement with this teaching on the part of the priest will have to be considered by myself as an act of disobedience, which could have serious consequences," he said.

The Bishop assured the priests that his message was "non-partisan" and laid out clearly that all priests in the diocese are expected to give "a simple introductory statement that the bishop has required this message to be played during the homily time at all Masses of obligation on November the 4th or the 5th." The bishop added, "If you can express some support for the message that I offer that would be appreciated but not expected."

The 14-minute recorded message from the bishop addresses three issues two of which are coming up for a vote in Wisconsin on November 7 - the marriage amendment, the death penalty and embryonic stem cell research. On both homosexual 'marriage' question and embryo research the bishop exposes the "baloney" being used to garner support for the practices which are contrary not only to Church teaching but also to reason.

On the death penalty the bishop explains that it is not necessary in the US for protection of citizens, and thus serves only to increase the climate of violence.

The move, according to the newspaper which received copies of the letter presumably from at least one disgruntled priest, has some of the priests in the diocese "furious at what they see as a threat."

Rather than cower from the public exposure of his letter to his priests which was intended to be "personal and confidential", Bishop Morlino used its publication as a teachable moment. The Bishop published the full letter to priests on his website, "so that the full truth regarding the content of the letter can be known."

The letter indicates that the Bishop is very thankful for the holiness of many of his priests. "Make no mistake that I am far more impressed by that holiness, goodness, and inspiration (among the priests), than I am troubled by the difficulties that we may encounter with each other along the way." Accompanying the reprint of the letter on the Bishop's website is an audio link to his full homily.

At the conclusion of the exercise, the score stands at three-nothing for the Bishop. Not only will his message to the faithful get conveyed at all Sunday Masses this weekend, the general public has been alerted to the Bishops concerns from the front page (above the fold) in the Wisconsin State Journal, and a second article in the paper has Bishop Morlino defending his actions.

With all the controversy surrounding the upcoming broadcast of his remarks, the pews will likely be filled this weekend in Catholic Churches in Madison.

U.S. Supreme Court Allows Decision Approving Anti-Catholic Display to Stand

Hard as we try folks, one cannot but conclude American jurisprudence, imbibed as it is with the intoxicating
liquer of liberalism and masonic thought, is overtly and unashamedly supersaturated with a hostility to religion in general and to Christianity--especially those Catholic papists--in particular.

As this case shows, anti-Catholicism is always fashionable, unlike any whiff of offending Jews, Mohammadens and sodomites who continue to be confused on the human anatomy and what should be properly done with it.
Read on an see the wisdom of the forces of progressivism ram their secular, man-centered religion down everone's throat, like it or not!

Ann Arbor, MI— This week the U. S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal involving a constitutional challenge to an anti-Catholic statue depicting a Roman Catholic bishop with a grotesque facial expression wearing a miter that resembles a phallus. The statue was entitled “Holier than Thou” and included a plaque with a denigrating and derisive statement about the sacrament of penance. It was placed at one of the busiest locations on the campus of Washburn University, a tax supported public university located in Kansas.

Robert Muise, the Thomas More Law Center attorney who handled this case, commented, “Incredibly, during the course of this litigation, university officials admitted that they would never permit an anti-Jewish, anti-black, or anti-gay/lesbian statue on campus. Discrimination against the Catholic faith apparently promotes the educational mission of Washburn University. And while the federal judiciary may have turned a blind eye to this outrage, many Catholics did not.”

Many prominent Catholics criticized the statue as anti-Catholic as soon as the university began the display on September 20, 2003. Catholic Archbishop James Keleher of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas wrote an open letter to the University President strongly urging the university to remove this symbol of anti-Catholicism. He wrote, “I am extremely disappointed at this present situation that is an affront to me, to many Catholics and to others who value decency and respect. I am particularly concerned for your many Catholic students who see their faith ridiculed and they themselves embarrassed.”

Other prominent Catholic leaders and organizations, such as William Donohue, president of the Catholic League, the Kansas State Knights of Columbus, the president of the Archdiocesan Conference of Catholic Women, and the Catholic Campus Center at Washburn University expressed similar concerns about the offensive display.

Nonetheless, the University’s President defended the display as art that has the purpose of engaging the community intellectually and emotionally, and refused to remove it.

As a result of the refusal, the Thomas More Law Center, a national, public-interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Dr. Thomas O’Connor and Andrew Strobl. Dr. O’Connor, a professor of 39 years at Washburn, and Strobl, a senior at Washburn at the time of the filing of the case, are both devout Catholics. The lawsuit alleged that Washburn’s display of this anti-Catholic symbol conveyed the impermissible state-sponsored message of hostility toward the Catholic faith in violation of the Establishment Clause.

The case was dismissed by the federal district judge who ruled that Washburn had a secular purpose for displaying this sculpture because “[i]t functions to aesthetically enhance Washburn’s campus[,] broaden the educational experiences [and] increase the intellectual capacities of Washburn’s students.” The judge concluded that the presence of “Holier than Thou” on “Washburn’s campus would [not] cause a reasonable observer to believe that [Washburn] endorsed hostility towards the Catholic religion.”

In July 2005, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Denver, Colorado, affirmed the lower court’s ruling that Washburn University did not violate the constitution even though it prominently displayed a statue supported with public funds that mocks the Catholic faith.

The Thomas More Law Center asked the Supreme Court to revisit its confusing and inconsistent Establishment Clause jurisprudence and noted that this “hostility to religion” case would be a case of first impression. The Law Center argued that an evenhanded application of its present muddled jurisprudence compelled the Court to find that this display was unconstitutional.

Richard Thompson, the President and Chief Counsel for the Law Center, commented, “The Supreme Court’s decision not to hear this case is disappointing, and it reaffirms the double standard and hypocrisy spawned by the current Establishment Clause jurisprudence. Despite giving lip service to the concept of neutrality towards religion, many federal court decisions have in fact bristled with hostility to all things religious, especially those that are Christian. This double standard is also applied by our nation’s public universities, which have refused to allow school newspapers to show the recent controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed because it was insulting to Muslims.”

American Circle of Lucifer's Underlings at it again!

Those "waskalie" wookies at the American Circle of Lucifer's Underlings, commonly just called the ACLU, are at it again. When not persecuting 9 year old boy scouts who don't want to associate with known sexual predators or agnostics and atheists who have a passion for hating the God most Americans admit of AND believe in, they are hounding pro-life Pharmacists of Conscience who will not buckle under their hate of religion, especially if it wiffs of the Catholic or Christian flavor.

Besides the self-evident beauty, this young lady says it all about the ACLU, including their long and deep roots in the American Communist Party, including one supreme court justice (Ruth "Buzzi" Ginsberg) who was voted in with only 3 dissenting votes!

Here's one story about their latest attempt to impose their immorality down the throats of the majority. Whatever happened to the tyrrany of the minority? Oh yeah, right there with the "dictatorship of the proletariat" that these lefty commie kooks are installing in the land of the brave.

And, don't believe their bogus voodo "scientific" poll on the matter of the abortifacient "emergency" abortion pill being available without an Rx. In two separate polls, conducted by secular folks, pharmacists rejected
ACLU's and the abortoholics' premise of a pharmacist's conscience clause: by landslide majorities of 69 and 77% pharmacists overwhelmingly agree pharmacists should be able to step away from dispensing ANYTHING which violates their religious, moral or ethical principles AND not be strong-armed to refer the same said "patients" for drugs which often are used to kill a patient, preborn or born.

KENTUCKY GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Bill eases access to 'morning after pill'
Contraceptive stirs abortion debate

By Peter Smith
psmith@courier-journal.com
The Courier-Journal

A controversial emergency contraceptive would be easier for women in Kentucky to obtain under a bill proposed in the General Assembly.

The contraceptive, called Plan B, is designed to be used after unprotected sex or sexual assault, or when a primary birth control method such as a condom fails. It has been a target of abortion foes because in some cases, it prevents a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.

In that scenario, "it's not contraception" but the abortion of a "tiny human being," said Margie Montgomery, executive director of the Kentucky Right to Life Association.

But the bill's sponsor, state Rep. Tom Burch, D-Louisville, argues that Plan B, which is one of the drugs known as the "morning-after pill," does not cause abortion and that conception begins with implantation.

"People are raising Cain about abortion all the time, but if you don't conceive a child, you don't have to abort the child," Burch said.

Burch's bill would allow a doctor to provide a pharmacist with a standing prescription for Plan B that could be filled for any woman who requests it. This process, which would follow guidelines set by the state, would not be the same as over-the-counter status, which federal authorities have denied.

"Men get all the birth-control stuff they want, and women can't," Burch said in explaining his reasons for sponsoring the measure. "There's not supposed to be any differences."

The bill's filing follows the recent release of a report by the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky, stating that nearly nine in 10 Kentucky pharmacies do not stock Plan B.

While the bill would not force pharmacies to stock the drug, it would streamline the process for those that do.

Advocates for the drug say that's crucial because Plan B is effective only within 72 hours of intercourse. The drug does one of three things, depending on the point in a woman's cycle -- prevents her from ovulating, prevents the sperm from fertilizing the woman's egg, or prevents a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.

Opponents of Burch's bill include Right to Life and the Catholic Conference of Kentucky.

"People (who) are prescribed drugs should have that happen in the context of advice and counsel and the ability to ask questions of doctors," said Ed Monahan, executive director of the conference.

The bill is pending in the House Health and Welfare Committee -- of which Burch is chairman. Burch said he has not set a hearing date.

Leon Claywell, president of the Kentucky Pharmacists Association, said he stocks Plan B at his pharmacies. Many do not, he said, because it's a "low-demand item."

Claywell said he doesn't see the need for Burch's bill because most pharmacists can order a prescription within 24 hours.

"I feel more comfortable with that being prescribed by" a doctor who knows a patient's medical history, he said. "But if the law is changed … certainly pharmacists could handle it."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Plan B in 1999.

The FDA denied a proposal in 2004 to make Plan B available over the counter -- an unusual rejection of the recommendation of its advisory committee, a congressional report said.

The decision said inadequate data were available about the drug's effects on the health and sexual behavior of younger teens. Critics said the FDA caved into conservative pressure, which the agency denies.

According to national reports and the Kentucky ACLU study, some pharmacists have refused to dispense the drug on moral grounds.

Four states give pharmacists a right to refuse, and similar proposals are pending in the legislatures of Indiana and several other states, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. States such as California and Illinois require pharmacists to dispense emergency contraceptives.

Kentucky law authorizes pharmacists to use their "professional judgment to refuse to fill a prescription," such as when a patient is allergic or addicted to a drug, said Mike Burleson, executive director of the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.

But the law neither allows nor forbids a pharmacist to refuse a prescription out of conscience. Burch's bill doesn't address that issue.
ACLU survey

The recent Kentucky ACLU report stemmed from a survey it conducted last fall of 309 pharmacies, or nearly a quarter of the state's pharmacies.

As part of the survey, female callers posing as customers asked pharmacists if they could fill a prescription for Plan B that day.

Only 12 percent of the pharmacies said they had the drug in stock. Five rural counties had no pharmacies willing to dispense it, and a sixth had no pharmacies at all. Another 41 percent of the pharmacies called were willing to order Plan B, but some could not get it within the needed 72 hours, the report said.

"I found it disturbing in the sense that there were so few pharmacies that actually had it in stock," said Amanda Kreps-Long, director of the ACLU's Kentucky Reproductive Freedom Project. "That's really dangerous for women, because it's such a time-sensitive medicine."

The survey used some typical polling methods, such as its random selection of pharmacies and use of the same questions for each call. It was untypical in that the callers posed as customers rather than disclosing that they were doing a survey.

Some pharmacists told callers that their stores didn't stock the medicine as a policy or that they had never heard of the drug, while a few said they would not fill it as a matter of conscience, Kreps-Long said.

The pharmacy board's Burleson said no one has complained to the board about a pharmacist refusing to fill a prescription for Plan B. He added that state law does not require a pharmacy "to carry every medication out there that's available."

Wal-Mart, which has 90 pharmacies in Kentucky, refused to answer repeated Courier-Journal inquiries about whether it stocks Plan B. Industry trade journals say it does not. The ACLU said none of the 19 Wal-Marts it surveyed had Plan B in stock.

Rite-Aid, Kroger, Kmart and CVS allow individual pharmacists to decline to fill prescriptions for reasons of conscience but require their pharmacies to fill them in another way.

"We do have a responsibility to fill the prescriptions that are brought to us," said Kroger spokesman Tim McGurk. At the same time, "we do have a policy in place to ensure we don't force pharmacists to compromise their individual beliefs."

CVS requires each store to fill a customer's prescription even if they have to get it delivered from another store, spokesman Mike DeAngelis said.

Kreps-Long said she was especially dismayed that the survey found some pharmacists who didn't know about Plan B. She said the ACLU would start informational campaigns for pharmacists and the public.

"With more demand, more pharmacists might be willing to carry it," she said.

Abortoholics use cognitive dissonance: acuse those whom you attack of your vices

Here's a great set of letters from Cristina Alarcon, BSP, pharmacist of conscience in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to some small circulation yellow rag called Georgia Straight.

Enjoy Cristina's sharp logic and the cognitive dissonance of the abortiholic marxist who wrote her emotion-laden rebuttal to Cristina's first letter. Folks we can't make this stuff up if we tried!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My apologies if you have received this twice. The following is my response to a letter that was published in the Georgia Straight on Feb 9th, 2006. The letter by Ms Duncan is included below, as well as the original article that instigated it.

To: Georgia Straight news

Dear Editor,

I write in response to the letter you printed in the last issue of the Georgia Straight signed Caryn Duncan.

I agree with Caryn Duncan that no one should "make medical claims about drugs and medical procedures to shift the spotlight from their position on abortion". In fact, my stance for not supporting Plan B's becoming available over the counter is not as simple as just being pro-life or pro-choice. It is infinitely more complex than that!

As to Ms Duncan's statements from a McGill University epidemiologist who vouches for the safety of Plan B, I wonder how in the world she could know about its longterm safety when this particular product has only been on the market for a couple of years! Similar claims have been made about HRT (hormone replacement therapy), only to be discarded when studies were eventually carried out years after many women had suffered the consequences of being misinformed.

As to safety for the fetus exposed to Plan B? If the zygote (a new human being with 23 [unique pairs of chromosomes) happens to implant after suffering this hormonal assault then , yes, as far as we know he or she will continue to grow and develop. However, we do know that exposures of fetuses to high doses of estrogens in "birth control" pills have been known to cause male genital defects.

Furthermore, I do not hide the fact that I am pro-life, and take offense at having Ms Duncan imply that I am trying to hide something or trying to "pry" when I counsel my patients according to what I truly believe is the best way to go!

Sincerely,

Cristina Alarcon, BSP
Pharmacist

Morning-after-pill story pushes readers’ buttons
Publish Date: 9-Feb-2006

Pieta Woolley’s Plan B story [“Morning-after pill may head over the counter”, Feb. 2-9] ably reflects the complexity of the issues surrounding emergency contraception. However, I take issue with founding member of B.C. Pharmacists for Conscience Cristina Alarcon’s comments. Antichoice crusaders often make medical claims about drugs and medical procedures to shift the spotlight from their position on abortion.

For example, some claim that abortion causes cancer or has long-term health implications. There is no medical evidence to support this.

Ms. Alarcon’s comments about the health implications of Plan B are not supported by medical evidence either. I would be the first person to criticize the pharmaceutical industry for unsafe drugs. Plan B doesn’t warrant this criticism.

Abby Lippman, chair of the Canadian Women’s Health Network and an epidemiologist at McGill University, is on the record stating that Plan B (levonorgestrel) “is safe, will not harm a fetus even if a woman is pregnant, and has no contraindications or serious adverse effects”. The fact is, differing opinions about the availability of emergency contraception is really a debate about whether women should have control over their own bodies.

> Caryn Duncan / Vancouver Women’s Health Collective

Regarding “Morning-after pill may head over the counter”: I am not a pharmacist. Personally, I look at all possible alternatives before swallowing any pill. However, when my husband was very sick, our pharmacist was the one to prevent a catastrophe in the treatment ordered by his G.P., a doctor totally ignorant of the deadly interactions between the meds he had prescribed.

I wonder, then, why pharmacists should not have a say in protecting women from themselves? What if, in a panic, a young girl takes a pill too late and does not abort spontaneously? What intrauterine damage will affect the fetus; what damages will she do to herself?

In this day and age—except in the case of rape—why would a woman have to rely on that pill at all? What about education? Information? Prevention?

But, of course, that does not give the pharmacist the right to act without discretion and compassion.

Morning-after pill may head over the counter
By Pieta Woolley

Publish Date: 2-Feb-2006

Caryn Duncan wants the morning-after pill to become more accessible.

Thirty years ago, Caryn Duncan remembers, you couldn’t buy condoms without first talking to a pharmacist. Ditto yeast-infection cream. That was ridiculous, she said. Now, just as outrageous, Duncan added, the morning-after pill is still stuck behind the counter, with a prying pharmacist sometimes blocking access to the drug.

“Women are smart enough to figure out when and how to take it,” the Vancouver Women’s Health Collective member told the Georgia Straight. “Why can’t we just walk into a store and buy it?”

Buying morning-after pills alongside gossip mags and lip gloss inched closer to reality on January 20. After a meeting of its board, the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia (CPBC) quietly wrote a letter recommending to the B.C. government that Plan B, a morning-after pill used for emergency contraception, become an over-the-counter, nonprescription drug. That means any woman could walk into a pharmacy, verbally answer a couple of questions, pay her money, and take the pills.

The morning-after pill can be taken up to three days after unprotected sex. It’s a high dose of estrogen, about four times the level of a normal birth-control pill. Depending on when during a woman’s cycle it’s taken, the pill may prevent ovulation, fertilization, or implantation of an egg.

By the Georgia Straight’s deadline, the government had not yet considered the college’s recommendations, which would bring B.C.’s treatment of Plan B in line with other provinces.

“This is a pipeline process; it wouldn’t happen overnight,” CPBC spokesperson James Nesbitt told the Straight. “But the wheels have been set in motion.”

The changes will affect a vast number of women. In 2005, B.C. pharmacists prescribed 22,689 sets of Plan B pills to 18,819 women, according to B.C. Ministry of Health spokesperson Sarah Plank. That’s one Plan B prescription for every 40 women between the ages of 15 and 45 last year, if you divide the number of prescriptions into Statistics Canada’s population record of females in that age bracket in B.C.

The new regulations, if they’re accepted, will have two immediate consequences. First, extended health plans and the low-income government insurance plan Pharmacare would probably stop picking up the tab, Nesbitt confirmed. That means women may be out-of-pocket about $60 per Plan B set. It also means the government could save up to $1.4 million per year by offloading those costs to the consumers. Second, the Ministry of Health and the provinces’ doctors will no longer be able to keep track of the number of times a woman uses the drug because, as Nesbitt explained, purchases will no longer be recorded on Pharmanet.

Currently, pharmacists prescribe the pill directly to women after asking three questions: the date of her last period, the date she had unprotected sex, and if a contraception method failed, what that method was. The prescription is recorded on her Pharmanet file, according to Victoria’s director of the Office of Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC), Mary Carlson.

The change would eliminate the third question and the recorded information.

Duncan said she welcomes the change but thinks it doesn’t go far enough. She pointed out that without the pharmacist intervention and attendent fees, if Plan B were just available on the shelf the drug’s cost would drop from about $60 to about $25 per dose. The new, nonprescription status of Plan B won’t really hurt women’s wallets, she argued, because most women don’t have an extended health plan and are already paying the full cost.

“This is about controlling women’s bodies and choices,” she said. “Pharmacists are trying to preserve their role in the health-care system. They’re overreaching their role.”

The change wasn’t initiated by pharmacists though; it was a January 6 letter from Victoria’s OIPC to the college that got things started. Director Carlson told the Straight that the commissioner’s job is to minimize government collection of individuals’ information, and this looked like it stepped over the line.

“You can get it [Plan B] anonymously in every other province,” she said. “We asked, ‘Why would you collect this information? Why can’t there just be a dialogue [between the client and the pharmacist]?’?”

In March 2005, Carlson pointed out, Ottawa opened the door for the provinces to offer Plan B as a nonprescription drug. Most provinces did so immediately. At the time, B.C. didn’t change its legislation because local rules offered similar benefits. (In 2000, the B.C. Ministry of Health had already begun to offer Plan B through a pharmacist—the first province to do so.) It’s still considered a prescription, though, and it is not anonymous. The nonprescription format offers better privacy, Carlson said, adding that the OIPC deals only with privacy issues, not ethical or safety issues.

But Cristina Alarcon, a pharmacist for 16 years, told the Straight that safety should be at the top of the decision makers’ minds when changing access to Plan B. She said there’s little information about the long-term consequences of morning-after pills, and especially their repeated use.

“I think this is a really bad idea [to provide the drug over-the- counter],” she said. “I can’t sell hemorrhoid suppositories without a prescription, but this is much more harmful. It’s a potent hormone.”

Alarcon compared Plan B to the menopausal hormones doctors formerly prescribed to women. After years on the market, studies determined that the estrogen-progestin mix was linked to increased risks of stroke, breast cancer, and heart problems. Although the hormones in Plan B are different, Alarcon thinks it’s worth more study before they are offered over-the-counter.

“I foresee women taking it as though it were nothing,” she said. “This is giving the wrong message to the public, that this is as safe as baby Aspirin, which is also over-the-counter.…If it’s so easily available, why would women restrict themselves to using it just once?”

Apart from the health issues, Alarcon has other trouble with the drug. Eight years ago, she helped start B.C. Pharmacists for Conscience, a professional group that advocates for pharmacists to act within their own ethics. A life-long Catholic, Alarcon chooses to not distribute Plan B at all.

“I don’t think it’s good for society to have something as readily available to solve something so complex,” she said. Plus, “if a woman has conceived, this will act to impede implantation. And I believe life begins when fertilization takes place.”

Alarcon claimed that more and more young women come to see her, looking for natural methods to prevent pregnancy—ones that don’t include ingesting hormones. Most doctors don’t explain to their young patients the rhythm of their bodies or how their hormones work and when they are and are not fertile in a month, she said. Understanding those rhythms is the first step to girls and young women respecting their bodies, Alarcon noted.

“We treat our bodies as though our fertility is pathological, as though it’s a disease. It’s not.”

Duncan, however, believes it’s the pharmacist’s role to dispense the drugs, not counsel the consumers. Asking a woman too many questions can be a barrier to access, she said, and in this case that can mean more abortions or unwanted pregnancies.

“This drug has a high success rate. It needs to be available to women when they need it, affordable, and women can figure out for themselves whether they need to take it or not.”

Neither the CPBC nor the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner have received complaints about access to the drug or complaints from women who believe pharmacists ask too many questions.

Klan Parenthood and the scheming wimen-folk

Seems the age-old suspicions in the general populace about some members of the fairer sex never die out. Not from a lack of re-education camps by the liberals and lefty kooks in the nation who wish to impose their own twisted version of kulturkampf on everyone else.

The three "wimen" who recently helped file a lawsuit against big, old bad Wal Mart because the folks in Bentonville, AR made a business decision not to stock the well-known and well-dcoumented abortifacient that goes by, inter alia, the trade name Plan B have admitted to their scheming and, implicitly, their mendacity. Oh, they like to try and fool the public that it is an "emergency" (not!) and that it is magically "contraception" (not!) but the science belies them and their abuse of the scientific nomenclature.

It's OK, absolution granted to the lost souls including Rebekah Gee, MD (who's pic is here)

and her cohorts in crime, nurse and midwife Julia Battel, with Katrina McCarty, who admitted yesterday to the AP that they had schemed on the matter, colluding with the usual suspects of abortoholics and generally haters of women staying in good health without baby killing surgeries and massive doses of steroids to mess up their hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Read on and be shocked how "modern woman" can use the same ol' same tricks of yesteryear, with thanks to our friends at LifeSite News:

Wal-Mart Lawsuit Staged - Women "Denied" Abortion Drug Admit Scheming

Wal-Mart Lawsuit Staged - Women "Denied' Abortion Drug Admit Scheming

By Gudrun Schultz

MASSACHUSETTS, United States, February 2, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Three women who are suing Wal-Mart after being denied the abortion-causing Plan B morning after pill have admitted to the Associated Press that the action was planned with abortion rights groups and lawyers.

Moreover LifeSiteNews.com has learned that at least two of the women involved are themselves activists pushing the abortifacient drugs.

Dr. Rebekah Gee and nurse and midwife Julia Battel, with Katrina McCarty, launched the suit in an attempt to force Wal-Mart to stock the drug on the grounds that it is a "commonly prescribed medicine," the definition given to drugs that pharmacists are required to stock. A new state law allows pharmacists to dispense Plan B without a prescription, but they aren't required to make it available.

Dr. Gee and Ms. Battel have been active promoters of emergency contraception (EC).

Dr. Gee worked with the Massachusetts Medical Society to push for Bill 1643, an "emergency contraception" access act that passed late last year, allowing women to get Plan B without seeing their doctor. Dr. Gee is featured on the Pharmacy Access Partnership website, an organization that works to make EC widely available.

Battel also worked to ensure the passage of Bill 1634, promoting the work of the Massachusetts Coalition for Choice, which backed the legislation, and encouraging colleagues to contact legislators in support of the bill.

In the April 2005 newsletter for the Massachusetts' Nurses Association, posted on their website, Battel makes misleading statements about emergency contraception, stating:

"EC does not cause an abortion…EC will not disrupt an already established pregnancy and will not harm the developing fetus if mistakenly taken during pregnancy."

In fact, Plan B does interrupt a pregnancy by preventing a baby in the very earliest stages from attaching to the wall of the womb. The drug causes abortion of the child when taken in the first few days of pregnancy. Battel includes the term "established" before pregnancy but does not inform her readers that by this she means that she only regards pregnancy as established when the unborn child implants in the mother's uterus.

Simple biology however, informs that the child is conceived when the sperm and ovum join and implantation of that already living unborn child can take several hours even more than a day. Thus Plan B will kill live embryonic children if they have not yet implanted in their mothers' wombs.

Walgreens goes to war against pharmacists: 4 are fired for refusing to dispense abortifacients

I cannot exaggerate the importance of these cases. Walgreens company reps went from store to store in the middle of the night "picking off" pharmacists who refused to sign their outrageous "policy."
Kind of like "drive by" firing. Which is not unusal in IL where Hiz Honor "Slobodan" Blagojevich has a de facto policy of "religious cleansing" of the pharmacist ranks. In the old days, when the state and private business hooked up like this to implement social policy they had a word for it: fascism.

If Walgreens is not held accountable for this, no pharmacist in any state is safe. Remember, Illinois has the best conscience laws in the country. That the governor and the private sector feel free to ignore those laws is chilling to say the least. Oh, yeah, one of the top dogs from Walgreens also happens to sit on the State Board of Pharmacy. What a coinkidink!

I encourage Americans of who think having a good conscience is important to avoid shopping at Walgreens, and pray for the pharmacists who stand up for human life. Feel free to contact Mr Polzin at Walgreens to let him know politely and firmly how you view this situation:

Michael Polzin describes his job as:
"As manager of external communications, I'm responsible for all of the company's communications with the media. I also handle financial news releases, community group presentations, the Press Room section of Walgreens.com and other executive communications."

Yet this same man stated last summer, said that Walgreens pharmacists wouldn't be held responsible for the insanely high number of scripts they sometimes have to dispense. This was in a news story about the Chicago area pharmacists striking due to working conditions that compromised patient safety.

Pittsburgh, quo vadis?

Even as it recovers from the nightmare hangover of a thunderous trouncing by the Indianapolis Colts yesterday evening, the city at the confluence of the Monongahela, Ohio and Allegheny Rivers continues into its ever-so-more liberal, anti-life downspiral.

Long entrenched and run by left wing Democrat regimes, this beautiful city in Western Pennsylvania is moving to further restrict free speech in an assinine new proposal from the Pittsburgh City Council.

Like a bull rush from Dwight Freeney and Corey Simon, the masonically-centered rulers on the Mon will find this anti-First Amendment proposal shot down at the slightest of judicial reviews. Of course, Planned Barrenhood has sprinkled their twisted support of this restriction of freedom of speech against baby killing.

Mind you, the leftist leaders of the 'Burgh got away for many years with the "nightmare in Pittsburgh" when modest pro-life women were assaulted, beaten, fondled and heaped on with the what seemed like the devil's own vituperation. They will find this time it will not go so well as beating up defenseless passive women. This time those whose freedom of speech to witness and defend the most defenseless of our brothers and sisters will not go so quietly into that night or for years of beaureaucratic red-tape judicial proceedings.

This proposal deserves only one fate: A requiem mass without any of the pomp or circumstance.

Proposal would ban protests near abortion clinic doors
Tuesday, November 29, 2005
By Rich Lord, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Two Pittsburgh City Council members introduced legislation today that would govern protests near clinics, hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

The legislation, sponsored by Councilmen Doug Shields and William Peduto, would create a 100-foot zone around entrances to healthcare facilities. People could protest within that zone but could not go within 8 feet of a person seeking to use the facility without that person's consent.

It would bar any protests within 15 feet of the entrance to a healthcare facility.
The legislation is meant to give police a means of preventing violent confrontations in front of healthcare facilities, said Kim Evert, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania, which supports the proposed ordinance.

She said protestors frequently target clinics that provide abortion services, like Allegheny Reproductive Health Center in East Liberty. "There needs to be an ability to separate people in these very intense emotional situations," she said.

She noted that issues like stem cell research and genetic engineering could inspire protests near hospitals and research facilities. Council could vote tentatively on the legislation Dec. 7 but may opt to schedule a public hearing instead.

NZ experiments on aborted US babies

By Martin Johnston
Researchers at Auckland University are conducting eye experiments on aborted human fetuses imported from the United States.

The university confirmed this yesterday after it was revealed by journalist Ian Wishart in the magazine Investigate.

The research has been denounced by an anti-abortion group, which has likened it to the medical experiments conducted under Germany's Nazi regime. But the university rejects the comparison and has defended the research, led by Dr Keely Bumsted O'Brien.

The study using fetal tissue aims to improve understanding of vision loss by examining the macula, the central part of the retina. Macular degeneration is common in the elderly.

In 2003, Dr Bumsted O'Brien published a study based on experiments using "snap frozen intact human fetal eyes ranging from fetal week nine ... to 18".

She did not return the Herald's calls. Nor did the university's deputy vice-chancellor (research), Professor Tom Barnes, who was in a university council meeting, but he issued a statement which said the latest study used donated human fetal tissue segments, including the macula, which were preserved in the US and imported to New Zealand.

Professor Barnes said strict protocols and a rigorous approval process governed the research. "Our information shows that approval processes for provision of the tissue by donor families have been followed correctly," he said.

Herald inquiries suggest it is unlikely that any fetuses aborted at New Zealand clinics or hospitals are being used in research. The Health Ministry's national database of its ethics committees dating from 1988 contains no record of applications for any such research.

The Canterbury District Health Board's clinical director of gynaecology and oncology, Dr Michael Laney, said no fetal tissue from the board's hospital was being used for research.

"We made a pact years ago that we were determined not to be seen to be making money out of these women."

The Capital and Coast board's head of obstetrics and gynaecology, Dr John Tait, said no New Zealand fetal tissue was used for research - that he knew of - as it would be so controversial.

The Voice for Life Auckland branch president, Bernard Moran, described the latest Auckland University experiments as a shocking watershed.

"We regard it as Auschwitz," he said.

"We knew it was happening in the States and Russia. We certainly didn't think it would happen here."

Fetal law

* Experiments using tissue from aborted fetuses are legal, but they are rare in New Zealand.

* Fetal tissue is excluded from the Human Tissue Act.

* It is expected to be covered in new legislation next year.

* It is proposed that the new law will make it clear that consent will be needed to use tissue from aborted fetuses and stillborn babies.

* The National Ethics Advisory Committee is writing guidelines on research using such tissue.

Clarification: An earlier version of this story included a reference to an $827,930, three-year grant Dr Keely Bumsted O'Brien recovered from the state-funded Health Research Council. This was for animal research. The council did not fund the fetal research.
